The project endeavors to alter these attitudes by providing a theological framework for reclaiming inactive members, based on Jesus' parables in Luke 15, and by promoting and implementing the Family Reunion Reclamation Project. The project concentrates on measuring change in attitude of leaders who become involved in a reclamation ministry. The methodology, materials, and results are reported and documented. Leaders who become involved in the Family Reunion Reclamation Project develop a more positive attitude toward inactive members."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131118539374592,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:42:25.067Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:48:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:03:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"acf051ff-72cb-4191-a5fc-6bf0f2ebb0ce","accessControl_ssim":["239066fd-fa50-4a74-8ec2-3563c9f2da6f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Protestant growth and desertion in Costa Rica . . . as affected by evangelism . . . and discipleship practices"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:48:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:07:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2d9afdb3-b93e-4baa-91f4-402b97ede525"],"hasLease_ssim":["16af6ef7-1b12-4916-bad7-1df16737e771"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert J Priest"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"location_tesim":["Costa Rica","Latin America"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jorge I Gomez"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions of Columbia International University"],"subject_tesim":["Strachan, Kenneth","Protestants","Church membership"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project begins with a study of the origins of AIINDEF's ministerial philosophy with EVAF and Kenneth Strachan, and then discusses Protestant membership growth in Costa Rica between 1862-1994. In the context of religious adherence among Costa Rica's 1994 adult population, the project analyzes Protestant desertion rates for 1989, 1991, and 1994. The projects offers reasons why former Protesants have deserted Protestant churches in Costa Rica. These reasons are related to differences observed in the three church categories used for this study (that is, churches distinguished by higher and lower attrition rates and by more mobility); in the areas of evangelism (message and method) and discipleship (including church discipline and congregational life).
