The theological framework as well as the theoretical and practical literature review will inform the project design for this thesis. Subsequently, a series of questions will be constructed in order to guide elder input, by questionnaire and focus group discussion, informing ministry leaders toward development of purposeful corporate worship with elders in transition from sanctuary to chapel. Using randomly sent surveys to pastors, I sought to elicit their experience of a discernment process.  The survey results showed that 60% did not receive any help in discerning God's calling to pastoral leadership. This was considered a fruitful window through which to examine the state of the peace position today.  A questionnaire was sent to 228 Brethren pastors.  One hundred seventeen responded.  The findings revealed that most congregations are not experiencing significant conflict over the position, but a majority of pastors are uncomfortable with the current status quo. Over the past five-year period, interviews were conducted in a population consisting of Brethren clergy, district executives, and laypersons in three districts.  These districts represent 80 percent of the total Brethren population area.  The research undertaken for this project involved a phenomenological/experiential and analytical/interpretive methodology. Twenty pastors enrolled in the fourteen, three-hour training sessions.  The pastors' positive response and evaluation indicated a need for such training. The project was a one day workshop presented at least once on each of the local, district, and national levels of the denomination. Participants were given the opportunity to discover their spiritual gifts by use of the 'Wagner Modified Houts Questionnaire'.
