Secondary components, alterable, also were reflected in forty-five statements designed, analyzing synergistic 'spirit'. Three churches' leaders responded to the statements on the Likert scale. Two-fold research design: (1) narrative background to the generation's history and experience in the decades of the fifties through the mid-eighties; and (2) survey of religious experience and attitudes of 229 respondents, aged 25-36. Data from 59 questions analyzed by 10-church rank; religious types; six sub-samples; male/female; and born-again/not born-again. From the earliest times, the church has struggled with its unity as a 'body'. The twentieth century church is rocked by the growing number of schisms in many congregations. Dr. mcGahey has served one such congregation trying to pick up the pieces of a major division. Through the use of personal interviews and questionnaires, mcGahey has tried to evaluate the situation of his congregation. He has tried to build a sense of unity through a 150th anniversary celebration, to affirm the ministry of his people. The result is a reawareness of our own need to see ourselves as God's people, not our own. The purpose further is to explore the creative and dynamic tension between these three in global ministry, urban ministry, the life of the judicatory, and the life of the congregation. One result of the study is the realization that mission itself is an agent of renewal for the church. When mission occurs, the church is converted as powerfully as the convert. The conclusion identifies leadership not as authoritarian or as managerial, but as a new style of leadership for a new time. The new style is modeled after the apostles Peter and Paul, symbolized by their meeting at the Jerusalem Council described in the book of Acts, chapter 15."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134111295864832,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:29:59.181Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":6,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Frank E McGahey","hits":1,"label":"Frank E McGahey"},{"value":"John Franklin Roschen","hits":1,"label":"John Franklin Roschen"},{"value":"John G Soneson","hits":1,"label":"John G Soneson"},{"value":"Kenneth E Knox","hits":1,"label":"Kenneth E Knox"},{"value":"Patricia Ann Meyers","hits":1,"label":"Patricia Ann Meyers"},{"value":"Paul C Clayton","hits":1,"label":"Paul C Clayton"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Religious surveys","hits":2,"label":"Religious surveys"},{"value":"Church and community","hits":1,"label":"Church and community"},{"value":"Congregations--Internal conflict","hits":1,"label":"Congregations--Internal conflict"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Church renewal","hits":6,"label":"Church renewal"},{"value":"Anniversaries","hits":1,"label":"Anniversaries"},{"value":"Baby boom generation","hits":1,"label":"Baby boom generation"},{"value":"Bible.
