This thesis begins with an historical analysis of Edwards and the Great Awakening, and then focuses on his Religious Affections, in particular the balance he sought between the divergent movements of his day. Field testing within the Northern California Conference of the United Church of Christ is chronicled and critiqued through six case studies.
