The author believes that the term 'revival' has been misunderstood in view of the biblical meaning and needs to be redefined for the modern church. We can be renewed by focusing on the fact that God has sent us a Savior and being Christ's body here on earth. Churches can turn this concept into an action plan for their congregation by instituting a program that honors Christ's methods of discipling and the activities of the historical revivalists, appealing to the whole person: head, heart, and hands. John Wesley's class meeting system was successful because it focused on these elements. The Navigators are a modern-day example. The author explored the implications of missional ecclesiology for leadership and the connection between leadership and imagination.  The author formed and led a six-month group for lay leadership development in which participants considered claims of missional ecclesiology vis-a-vis the congregation's context. Stanley Jones founded the Chrstian Ashram in 1930 to inspire the transformation of all persons to be followers of Jesus Christ, and thereby discover, renew, and deepen their relationship with God, self, and others. Now 35 years after the death of E. Stanley Jones, the Ashram movement is at a crossroads. The movement seems 'dated' and many are not familiar with the writings of Jones. This project contributes to the revitalization of the United Christian Ashram by revisiting and adapting the writings of E. The theological rationale focuses on the nature of the church as old and new and the congregation as a complex family system. The literature review focuses on congregational culture, a survey of the transitional leaders' attributes and actions, and an understanding of the learning organization.  A comparison of one congregation's historic vs. current leadership culture, by means of group interviews and surveys, was conducted so as to understand the trajectory of its leadership culture. The Missional Change Model (MCM), developed by Alan Roxburgh and Fred Romanuk (2006), was used as a guide to that process. The MCM is designed to assist a congregation in implementing change. To determine missional readiness at Victoria United, congregational 360 and pastor/leader 360 assessments were completed. The implementation of the MCM occurred over an eight month period.
