The project director gathered demographic data for the city of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, as well as a three-mile ring surrounding the church. Additionally, the project director analyzed internal church data and surveyed the congregation to augment his research. The community and church data helped the project director produce a profile of the trends in the community and congregation. The project director researched church revitalization models and methods, interviewed pastors involved in revitalization, and read extensively on the subject of revitalization. This investigation produced a report of best practices and potential steps toward revitalization. A team of strategic leaders in the church served as the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and the project director led this team through a process to develop the strategy for revitalization. Various groups in the church received the presentation of the revitalization strategy and their input produced a final version of the presentation to be presented to the church body. The project director along with the SRT presented the proposed strategy to the congregation for approval. The church unanimously approved the strategy in a business meeting called for December 1, 2021."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718004083130368,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:27:17.268Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:57:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:52:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8b7f0030-cc4e-4f5c-9c6b-9cc275ffa2ee","accessControl_ssim":["751c2970-1bf1-4a65-8a77-7ecdef928a1e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church Revitalization Strategy for Morgan Chapel Baptist Church, Sturgis, Mississippi"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:57:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:13:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["876b743e-2e8f-427d-874d-9b57f350c57b"],"hasLease_ssim":["91884239-809a-4711-979d-4a927ce1cbb6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Adam Hughes Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2022"],"location_tesim":["Mississippi"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The hypothesis was: as Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church gives attention to issues associated with space, small groups, and focus, the church will move from plateaued to growing. The body of this dissertation is divided into three parts. It begins with a review of relevant literature concerning issues of space, small groups, and focus as they relate to church growth. This is followed by an explanation of why qualitative case study research was used to evaluate two churches that successfully moved from plateaued to growing. The case-studies demonstrated that there is a link between giving attention to issues associated with space, small groups, and focus and a church successfully moving from plateaued to growing. The dissertation concludes with applications that will aid in helping Rhea’s Mill Church move from its current plateau to growing once again."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130602044391424,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:34:12.499Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:56:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:27:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3a1acfd7-4b5f-45b7-91d6-3db96e608efc","accessControl_ssim":["b48b16f5-56b9-4b0c-a4bb-05be01e83f4c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Selected case studies investigating the principles of visionary leadership of the senior pastor in the revitalization of a declining church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:56:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:48:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0ac14a95-9776-4de6-bad3-731dcac86cbb"],"hasLease_ssim":["add118e4-1b48-46af-b25a-a7aeec11da65"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["D. These specialists identified an association between pastoral leadership style, the presence of a compelling vision that identified how the church should look in the future and key actions that would result in the cessation of the decline and initiation of revitalization. The readers will discover that there is an association between the visionary leadership of the pastor and the principles used to impact at least eight different spheres of the ministry that have been entrusted to him. This dissertation defined “visionary leadership” as leadership that inspires people to change because of two things: the Senior Pastor’s model and message. The project will examine the role the of selected senior pastors and the impact of their visionary leadership on the revitalization of a declining church. The primary means of investigation and research in this project was the use of eight case studies of pastors, which will assess their leadership style and its impact on revitalization. Some of these pastors entered their churches more than twenty years ago, and some began three years ago. The dissertation concludes with a chapter presenting the six metrics and how declining and plateaued churches and the pastoral leaders therein can, through prayer, begin to dream, think and plan for health that leads to growth"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130980515315713,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:40:13.437Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:55:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:24:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1f322763-88f9-4703-8da6-45ccf0fad4ed","accessControl_ssim":["9f5ac1be-9791-4a75-a279-b699c2486a6c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An Examination Of How To Revitalize A Church In A Demographically Changed Community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:55:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:03:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b7d22f17-74d8-4798-8d57-b996339ea9c2"],"hasLease_ssim":["83daf039-5faa-45a1-adb5-8c367c11ed66"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert Rowley D.Min.","Dwight Nash D.Min."],"year_tesim":["2022"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Doleshal, Robert"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Church renewal","Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Demographic diversity is both a cause for church decline and churchrevitalization. If seeking revival for our communities is our highest aim, then fostering racism is one of Satan's main strategies to frustrate our desires and efforts.I begin this work with an autobiographical first chapter. My guess is that most readers have their own story of racial prejudices in their childhood. How God transformed and redeemed these prejudices is the heart of this chapter. In chapter two I attempt to outline the biblical conviction that the universe is the playing field of the 'powers' both good and evil. I encourage the reader to take very seriously these unseen forces which influence people and institutions. Chapter three is a historical analysis of the Fulton Street Revival of 1857. I chose to write on this revival because it began in a Reformed Church in New York City. The fourth chapter is an overview of the historical roots of racism, and my effort to identify racism as a significant spiritual stronghold. In chapter five I invite the reader to consider the history of Kalamazoo from a spiritual power perspective. The last chapter is where I apply the learnings of the previous chapters to my interest in Kalamazoo. My earnest prayer is that if any of the ideas presented in this closing chapter are of God, that the Kalamazoo City pastors and intercessors would put these initiatives into practice."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135671794008064,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:54:47.388Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":186,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
