This exercise in practical theology reflects upon specific pastoral examples within the Archdiocese of Chicago where the GIRM2003 has been introduced.  Much can be learned from the ministerial praxis of a particular diocese that has introduced liturgical changes and has a long history with liturgical reform and renewal. When I first arrived, the church was closed and set to be demolished.  By inspiring the remaining congregation, and empowering them using the principles espoused by the Second Vatican Council of reversing the hierarchy of the clergy and by following Jackson W. Carroll's model of how to exercise authority, they performed outreach in the surrounding community, extending an invitation to non-affiliated Catholics to attend Saint Peter's, and by listening to the spiritual needs of the people. The result was the expansion of the church to the point that it was possible to reopen the church building. Its methodology challenges Catholics conditioned into a passive faith stance by the lingering age of typography to listen, learn, and tell the sacred stories in a public forum.  By reclaiming the power of the oral traditions, the process of biblical storytelling forms small faith communities actively proclaiming and passing on the tradition while enhancing the liturgy of the Word.  It provides an immediate ecclesial solution to the shortage of priests by restructuring local sacramental communities into evangelists themselves. These women have been the leaders and have formed the heart behind the growth in the Roman Catholic church during the last twenty-five years. The thesis is a tribute and gift to these women and, it is hoped, will contribute to their on-going renewal and preparation for the 21st
