that provides a foundation for church ministry accomplishing two aspects of progressive sanctification. (1) A consistent, vertically-integrated ministry that recognizes the 'in Christ' relationship as sons/daughters of God and purposefully structures the church to foster that relationship in order to see life change (Christ-likeness). (2) The horizontal mutuality that exists between fellow believers in Christ and how that relationship fosters spiritual growth. The training of the 14 pastors took place in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2002. The group had one year to put the principles learnt into practice. The class met twice after the one-year period to reevaluate the ten principles they had previously learnt. The project proved that it was possible to plant churches using the ten leadership principles gathered from Paul's speech at Miletus. 5 new churches were planted and the other 9 that had existed before this project began grew by 33% to 185%. Volunteers took part in an intensive eight-week Christian caregiving course.  The course was designed to equip members with the basic skills necessary to provide competent pastoral care.  Three evaluative tools were used as the primary data gathering instruments: a caregivers' survey, a caregivers' interest questionnaire, and the Christian caregivers' course evaluation.  Results indicated that participants had the passion, gifts, and skills necessary for a care-oriented ministry. The writer combined a desire to promote growth through preaching from the gospels and passion for the disciplines into a project that draws the two together.  The topic of spirituality was explored widely, and the gospels were read repeatedly to see how the spiritual life was stressed therein.  The disciplines highlighted were 1) Bible intake, 2) prayer, 3) fasting, 4) solitude, 5) submission, 6) worship/celebration, and 7) generosity. Major factors that intervene to produce this disparity are denominational structures, educational requirements, racial and cultural influences. In Caucasian churches, ministers seem to be in paid staff positions while in African-American churches, many ministers (excluding pastors) are in positions with little or no compensation and appear to do many voluntary functions. Women in both types of churches are underutilized and seem to be in supportive roles. This evaluative study in the descriptive mode used a researcher-designed instrument for training fifteen participants. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, weekly feedback forms, and a congregational survey. The team identified growth in assurance and capability for intercessory prayer; the congregation affirmed the team's
