This framework takes the form of four interlocking leadership principles that have their foundation in Natural Systems Theory and Creation Theology. Each of the four chapters of this project is dedicated to one leadership principle. The thesis begins by surveying the congregation to learn about their three greatest personal crises.  Thirteen messages were delivered on Sunday mornings to address these crises.  Detailed fill-in-the-blank sermon notes were included in each Sunday's bulletin.  These inserts were accumulated into a resource booklet after the project as a quick reference tool to assist the congregation in caring for their neighbours, family and friends during a future crisis. The goal of this project was to train three youth pastors in recruiting volunteer youth leaders using a four-phase strategy involving prayer, effective leadership team, worship service vision casting, and personal contacting. The project director researched worship planning and theology and wrote a seven week curriculum designed to teach about biblical worship and worship planning.  He taught it to nine people.  Effectiveness was measured using pre-tests, post-tests, class evaluations, worship service evaluations by an outside expert, focus groups, journal, and a follow-up interview. The model for ministy consisted of gifts assessments, questionnaires and interviews, and a series of workshops and accompanying sermons.  The project revealed the elders were more motivated by the need to accomplish an assignment than by their area of giftedness. Results indicated that, while leaders respected the emphasis on gifts, they needed a respite. The research in this project was conducted in conjunction with the United Methodist General Board of Discipleship.  It offers a brief historical look at lay ministry and addresses the need for involvement of the laity in the life of the church.  Particular attention was paid to the state of church membership of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church.
