Awareness for the need for such a ministry arose when the author discovered how few shelters accept homeless families. It occurred to the author that the church has an obligation to keep these families intact, especially during the trying ordeal of a homeless crisis. Ethnographic and pro-active research methods were employed in a effort to bring together a healthy mix of objective and subjective information. The research was offered in the form of a project paper to a control group consisting of laypersons in the congregation. At the close of the session, a forced option questionnaire was distributed to determine feasibility. Twenty of the twenty-one participants believed, based upon the information gathered, that the ministry was feasible. The case study approach was used. Participants were selected by their willingness to participate. Data was gathered through observation and personal interviews. The labyrinth was introduced through education and experience. The author researched ways in which ministers experience the tension between primary tasks of ordained ministry, of which relationships with the poor are a part, and the more tangible and measurable secondary and tertiary marks of ministry. The method of study for this project was largely ethnographic, consisting of field interviews with fifteen elders. Mount Aery Baptist Church, a 77-year old, 1400 disciple African-American congregation, had recently experienced rapid growth.  As a result, its leadership (Pastor and Officers) was often unable to adequately address the numerous congregational needs in a timely manner.  Also, of great concern within the congregation was the qualifications needed to address those needs. It sets forth their successes and what they have found to be obstacles in their lives together. A six-week program conducted in the church enabled participants to do their own grief work and provide support to the congregation.  Resources and training were provided by Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio through the certifies bereavement specialist chaplain.  Pretests, posttests, and observation were used to evaluate the program. The methodology used was a sociological model of communication-dialogue, which included the Spiritual Journeys of two multicultural pastors and dialogue between two multicultural groups.  The applied treatment revealed little difference between the two cultures as it relates to ideas about Christianity.  There were differences, however, in how the two cultures viewed each other.
