The students listening are the future leaders of America and other countries of the world. This thesis project develops a 'preaching workshop' for the new college ministers to give them confidence and skills to preach biblically on campus. Chapter two and three are the literature review and the biblical and theological background for the basis for preaching biblically to the university. Chapter four is a summary of the preaching workshop for new college ministers. Chapter five is the review of the workshop and suggestions for future improvements. The church has chosen to define the vocational call more in terms of function rather than its nature. Ministry that does not include a preaching element fits into the accepted categories of service in the church. However, this functional position undercuts the power of God's call to all and elevates clergy-related leadership as the more desired calling. Hence there is a need to ably and holistically evaluate the nature and not merely the function of the call. The focus of this project was to design a framework of Scripture, reason, experience, and tradition to clarify this process better assist those working through their sense of calling. It is hoped that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they will apply and exercise their calling to some aspect of full-time clergy or called laity ministry. Using the case study method, two senior pastors were interviewed who have a track record of multiplying leaders to grow their churches. The second phase included the development of lesson plans for a five-session workshop with evaluation forms, tests, PowerPoint, and homework assignments. The five sessions covered clarifying the need of small groups, understanding small group dynamics, developing leaders, ministry multiplication, and insight into leading effective small groups. The final phase of the project involved the implementation of the workshop sessions and assignments. The project director equipped 15 selected leaders of First Baptist Church in essential truths of small group effectiveness.
