The third phase was model construction and field testing. The first was to train active church members to become involved in ministry. This objective involved persuading the trainees that ministry for Christians other than pastors is scriptural. It then involved instruction in what it takes to be a minister.  The second objective was to assist new members in becoming actively involved in the life of the church. The key ingredient in this was the sponsorship program. Each trainee signed a commitment to sponsor a new or inactive member. The report also discusses the rationale for lay involvement in the local church. The methodology is feminist and therefore attempts to break free from traditional understandings of research. The focus of the research is on the women's experience of ministry and supervision and their understanding of spirituality and their vision of ministry with women.  The insights from this study include the effect of patriarchal structures on women, the lack of skills of critical analysis to identify patriarchal reality, the minimal support and nurture for feminists' spirituality, and the limited provision of opportunity to discuss theology from a feminist perspective.
