Research for the project utilized books, periodicals, journals, videocassettes, and audiocassettes on the subjects of death, grief, funerals, counseling, deacons, and teaching methods.  The grief ministry program consisted of twelve, one-hour sessions which included pretests and posttests. Several theories of grief, both inside and outside of the SDA Church, are briefly explored, thereby developing an understanding of the dynamics of the grief encounter.  Nine grieving individuals of the church founded and formed a grief support group.  For six consecutive weeks they met, and processed their grief pains and acquired insights on being caregivers to other grievers. The goal of the project was to lead and assist the church in developing and implementing a multifaceted approach to grief ministry to attend to the needs of grieving people within and outside of the parish community. The project involves educational, pastoral care and liturgical components.
