The objective of this project was to determine if compassionate spiritual, emotional, and practical assistance to widows during the critical bereavement period would be helpful. The methodology selected for the model included a questionnaire, interviews, observations, and feedback. A pro-active / qualitative research design was used for this project. Laity must be engaged in a five-step process: grieving people receive comfort from scripture and one another; they personally encounter a living faith in Jesus Christ; they obtain guidance in the grieving process through a workbook; they experience emotional healing; and they become involved in helping others to deal with their grief.
