The research looked at experiences of biblical characters, reviewed theological reflections, and examined survey and interview responses of family caregivers. The project consisted of researching assorted beliefs and practices concerning spiritual warfare in a variety of Christian traditions, then writing a text which integrated the practices into a single model. The resulting resource was evaluated by a panel of experts from a broad range of Christian traditions. The training further reduced participants' fear of death and increased beneficial styles and types of death acceptance as measured by the Death Attitude Profile-Revised (DAP-R). The research director researched the field of elder care and identified the best practices and developed materials to assist in the training of the selected participants. The director then used these materials to develop a four-session workshop whose subjects included: 'What is a caregiver?,' 'Suddenly you are a caregiver,' 'Encouraging spiritual growth,' and 'Creating a care plan.' The study highlights four themes: the decision to share the diagnosis with others, loss, the need for support from one's faith community, and commitment.
