The multi-dimensional qualitative research process was grounded in solid understandings gleaned from within the Christian tradition with respect to theological, biblical, historical and psychological disciplines. Basic assumptions examined included spirituality of children, blessing, holiness, worship, prayer, community, holy listening and Sabbath. It demonstrates how to develop the mission for grade five and six children who have never attended church.  The team has practiced in a playground where moral and religious education have taken place every Saturday and Sunday.  Through this program, they formed a community and became evangelized.  The sports mission also aims to help the children become responsible individuals.  It is designed with careful consideration of every stage of the children's development with regard to Erikson's educational theory.  The mission also aims to evangelize the parents through the children. Regarding Johan Huizinga's idea and argument on 'homo ludens,' this project attempts to contribute to the discussion on 'play theology' which is mainly being led by Jürgen Moltmann, Harvey Cox, and David L. Miller. Their parents seem unaware of this fact, possibly because they share this quality. This study seeks to discover ways to initiate steps for intentional spiritual formation for families in small churches. By conducting a qualitative study of the self-reported beliefs and behavior concerning personal responsibility for child spiritual formation among specific parents in his church and in six additional churches, the author discovered a disconnect between their behavior and beliefs. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and images using the ethnographic method. The study addressed the emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of children and adolescents with cancer as well as the historical ad contemporary uses of the labyrinth. Five cancer patients were enrolled in the project with their assent and the consent of their parents. The literature review summarized writings in the fields of ministry to children, children's ministry in the local church, Christian leadership, and Christian leadership development. The author designed, implemented and evaluated a thirty-week curriculum. Evaluation instruments included a pretest/post-test format, a ministry confidence survey, focus group questions, and a course topic evaluation. The project consisted of survey, seminar, training and follow-up with churches. As a result, church leaders and Sunday school teachers were challenged and changed attitude toward children's ministry. However, in order to implement effective children's ministry, more is required than changed hearts of leaders.
