In addition to conducting extensive biblical, historical, and doctrinal research, the student delivered weekly children's sermons over a four year period in consultation with a core of selected lay persons. The project included teaching sessions on ritual and spiritual formation, mission service, a weekend retreat, and ultimately the crafting of a congregational worship service that included a ritual transition (litany for new drivers) and celebration of the many stages of life. Evaluative instruments included survey, interview and questionnaire. The Gospel Wagon is an evangelistic tool that combines witnessing and peace. From this, a teaching module was developed that served as a catalyst to inspire children to acquire attitudes changes that lead to positive conflict resolution. The project incorporates the virtues of the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and the principles of Kwanzaa which served as the foundation of the project. Seventy-five percent of the pilot group made a positive change toward shalom. WeKare proved that churches have a role to play in the education of children with behavior and/or academic problems. WeKare accomplished this by formulating the biblical and theological foundations of the project, researching the problem, implementing and evaluating the project. The charge lived their faith by offering twelve weeks of mentoring to the students. The response to the problems will be practical application of the biblical principles of Christian social involvement. Specifically, an attempt will be made to lead an urban church in decline to become revitalized and to grow spiritually and numerically by developing and implementing an after-school ministry program. This program will address the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of elementary aged children in the Riverside area of Fort Worth, Texas. The children will be recruited from Oakhurst Elementary School in cooperation with the principal and the administration. A group of approximately twelve people will be led through an awareness and training program to help them see the need for and to equip them for a ministry of this kind. Twelve parents of spiritually vibrant adults were surveyed from house (10) and three-self churches (2) throughout provinces (7) and municipalities (5) in mainland China. The survey revealed the parents' regular prayer life, loving and respectful marriage, commitment to faith, and positive parent-child relationship as the most influential components of family life.
