Utilizing cinematherapy in a Christian counseling setting may further the expression of feelings, beliefs, worldviews, and values by tapping into the narrative medium of popular culture which is familiar and non-threatening to children. Cinematherapy as a therapeutic intervention introduces another level of viewing that focuses on identification and connection with characters in the movie. Movies viewed with an intentional focus as assigned or prescribed in cinematherapy invite reflection, comparison, and analysis that can promote theological formation and psychological development. The power of narrative to shape and influence individuals is demonstrated through reviews of narrative theology and narrative therapy. Narrative serves as the connection between these fields and the newer concept of cinematherapy. The author studied the Millennial Generation and their unique spiritual setting. Each child or youth had an adult 'Pal' with whom to develop a more personal relationship. The Church passes on the Christian faith to its young, but it also receives new and valuable perspectives into its faith from the young. This paper seeks to explore systematically children's insights into the Christian message, drawing on the body of research and reflection accumulated by the international Catechesis of the Good Shepherd movement over the course of the past fifty years. It then asks how children's theology--named 'mustard seed theology'--can be of particular use to preachers. It reports the results of two sets of interactions with preachers around the question. Recognizing the faith needs of families with young children, five congregations in Naples, Florida, formed a consortium to develop and implement a collaboratively designed project, utilizing pre- and post-testing to determine attitudinal changes regarding preschool ministry as an avenue to community evangelism. Palliative care was given to grieving children by an interdisciplinary team of nurses, social workers, teachers, and chaplain. Adults and children shared their work of play, while naming fears. HospiceKidsCare became a procedural study to assess children's grief. The study incorporates adult processes of assessment, treatment, and evaluation in parallel to child processes of naming, playing, and healing during a death experience. This pilot program seminar consisted of meeting surveyed needs of ministers through reading research, creating personal philosophies, and evaluation their personal programs. The results indicated that ministers wanted to be equipped to do ministry; therefore, validating this certification program. The certification program seminars will include pre-seminar assignments, as well as a post-seminar evaluation.
