This study tests the hypotheses that parenting groups increase family satisfaction, and secondly, when compared to other methods of teaching, genograms are more helpful.  Ten parents were measured for family satisfaction before and after the group.  Participants ranked the helpfulness of genograms in comparison to other methods.  Results showed that the group using genograms improved family satisfaction.  Secondly, participants reported that genograms were only moderately helpful in comparison to other aspects of the class. The critical balance between church and family in relation to God's kingdom was considered, with the conclusion that God's purpose for the family and the church should be observed through the lens of His kingdom program. A major goal of the project was to determine how the church could build stronger families, so the composition of a strong family was delineated. Healthy families were considered from a sociological and biblical viewpoint and six essential traits were presented as the benchmark for evaluating a church's ministry to families. A case study of Immanuel Bible Church was undertaken in order to learn more about how one church was ministering to families, thus providing a practical element to the research process. Research data from numerous sources provide a portrait of welfare in the United States and was used to implement educational and motivational activities to empower affected families making the transition to self-sufficiency. After completion of the project, participating recipients were prepared to make the transition. The term disability relates to individuals who are unable to function to their fullest capacity due to various physical, emotional, social, or intellectual problems.  This study explores and documents the experiences of families with children in the New Jersey metropolitan area, their involvement with clery and religious congregations, and, more specifically, the experience of parents with a child newly identified with a disability and the role in which clergy and congregations play in that process. The elements of this report include a discussion of current literature and resources on the subject; a theological review of the history of disabilities within the Christian faith and the socioeconomic environment; a description of the research survey tool utilized to gather specific evidence related to the topic; a discussioon of the results gained through the application of this research tool; and an analysis of implications that exist within the current framework of the Christian church.
