Based on interviews and questionnaires distributed among bereaved families, the project constructs a model that establishes networks among families, funeral directors, support groups, and social service agencies; empowers families and support ministries to meet needs of those who experience grief; and promotes healthy pastor/parish relationships as pastors lead bereaved families and communities through stages of grief. The project applied hermeneutical phenomenology strategy to data gathered from interviews with participants, identifying six hope themes: absolute, promise, inner-voice, well-spring, diminished-future, new-us. An experimental group and a control group were enlisted in the program.  Both groups participated in the pretest/posttest evaluation, but only the experimental group participated in the teaching sessions designed to examine the theological and practical facets of family worship. Each participant learns that family roles and rules hinder intimacy and a 'shame-based' identity is at the core of codependence.
