The project seeks to determine the overall effectiveness of the curriculum in three key areas: grounding the community in understanding the significance of what it is to be “in Christ,” providing opportunities for small groups to cultivate a desire to both know and be known within the context of a trusted community, and finally to cultivate an environment wherein a burden of care is embraced and felt within said community. The research centers on qualitative interviews with participants in the Beta launch of the Community Foundations curriculum. The Beta launch occurred between Spring 2018 and Fall 2019. Three hypotheses geared around the key areas addressed above are presented and evaluated through the content of the recorded interviews. The research results indicate deeper and more sustainable relationships were cultivated through these small group experiences as well as a new appreciation for the value of shared story in the context of community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130958004486144,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:39:51.969Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:27:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:35:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9b9c34d5-1615-4f23-a7d4-73581cf9a98e","accessControl_ssim":["8c2f3d63-3938-4b3a-a8bd-617cb45d10e4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Evaluating a Biblical Program for Family Education in Cleansing Stream Ministries"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:27:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:40:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["71bcafa8-7b0e-4114-8cc1-c3c73e421cb2"],"hasLease_ssim":["9bdb8d7b-c03e-44ca-80d7-e7efd7d26fe8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Educational Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Edward W. Examination of the words of Jesus in Matthew 25: 31-46 through the lens of missional theology established that caring for our neighbors is vital to our faith and discipleship. To evaluate community needs, the author used qualitative research tools including data collection, independent experts, and purposive and snowball sampling. Demographic information and community needs were also assessed through data collection using MissionInsite. The congregation was educated on the needs of the community and their call, as disciples of Jesus Christ, to care for those needs through a sermon series. Analysis of the data suggests that a church-sponsored Family Resource Center to connect people with resources is important. However, the author concluded that this is not the sole focus for the church. Jesus' teachings, our Wesleyan heritage, and United Methodist theology suggest that the church is called to be in relationship with its community through which the hope and unconditional love of God is shared.' -- Leaf [2]."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720317794385920,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:04:03.795Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:20:55Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:12:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7cc8e2e0-d2a9-4b6e-87bc-16c9c5da592b","accessControl_ssim":["d72858ca-8139-4fbb-a83c-8e01d743a563"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Samaritan community reading project : engaging congregation and community in love of God and neighboring"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:20:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:49:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8e659a61-2188-46f2-95a1-9b17668b5dca"],"hasLease_ssim":["bca3d970-53a3-479d-b40d-3a9a56be6574"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas Powe"],"year_tesim":["2020"],"location_tesim":["Tennessee"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Strong and Courageous is a ministry developed for implementation through the local church to encourage, equip, and empower single mothers. This ministry project focuses on the importance of and need for a Bible-based single moms’ ministry within the local church. It provides research to back up the need for a single moms’ ministry, as well as a ministry model for churches to utilize. Last, the ministry project provides instructions about how to start a single moms’ ministry within local congregations. Research for this project has produced alarming, eye-opening information crucial to the development of this ministry. Chapter 1 covers the need for a single moms’ ministry within the local church by offering statistics as to the increase of single mothers within the United States and the percentage of those who are unchurched.Chapter 2 covers the introduction and explanation of Strong and Courageous Ministry, explaining its purpose and what it offers. Chapter 2 unfolds the Strong and Courageous Ministry model as well as its outreaches. Last, it presents an example of one of the outreach models, a seven-week Bible study curriculum. Chapter 3 documents the implementation as well as the assessment of the single moms’ ministry that was executed through First Baptist Dallas during the Fall of 2019. Chapter 3 provides step-by-step instructions for beginning a single moms’ ministry within a local church setting. This research has proven the need and importance for a Bible-based single moms’ ministry within the local church setting. The project has provided not only evidence of the need, but also a model of how best to meet the need and to implement the ministry within the local church. Last, chapter 3 introduces additional outreach information from the Strong and Courageous Ministry, including an online presence to provide additional equipping and encouragement for single mothers and for church leaders who desire to implement a single moms’ ministry in their own churches. The project sought to increase marital health through the use of a five-week immersive process that included daily engagement with Scripture and other written content, discussion-based engagement with peer couples, and a weekly date night experience for each couple. Marital health was measured using a twenty-item, six-point Likert scale survey to measure the couple’s perception of five critical areas of their marriage: conflict resolution, personal finance, sex and physical intimacy, ministry challenges, and emotional depth and connectedness. The survey was taken by all participants in identical form before and after the five-week program. The project included three goals: 1) the enlistment of ten couples who had relocated to urban areas in the preceding eighteen months, 2) a twenty percent positive shift in half of participating couples, and 3) the absorption of a helpful marriage principle or habit by half of all individual participants. These two principles intersect and form a point of reestablishment in the marriages of believers from a Muslim background (BMBs). Islamic contractual marriage ideas remain in marital relationships of BMBs. The intent of this study is to explore and understand the influence of Islamic contractual marriage on believers who now embrace the ideas of Christian covenant marriage. The qualitative research will explore the believers’ understanding of their Islamic contractual marriage and their beliefs concerning biblical covenant marriage. BMBs retain a contractual view of marriage because they have not applied the ideas of covenant marriage, thereby affecting negatively their spousal relationships. Additionally, the use of certain cultural and religious terms reinforces their understanding of their marital relationship, often reflecting either a contractual or covenant perspective. For BMBs and missionaries there is a deficiency of available literature that compares and explains the differences between the Islamic and biblical views of marriage. This study hopes to be a foundational resource to highlight areas which possibly are retained in these marriages."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130051486416896,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:25:27.446Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":206,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
