These pastors also play a key role in helping immigrants adjust to the local culture. This project produced two case studies through interviews and participant observation. Informants included two local pastors of African origin and selected members of their churches. The project started with presentations of biblical and theological perspectives on preaching in relation to life situations and historical and sociological perspectives on Korean immigrants in parallel to biblical and other immigrants. The project continued with a survey conducted on a typical Korean immigrant congregation to reveal how sermons influence them and change their perception of what is going on in their lives. The project also included manuscripts of sermons delivered to the congregation during this process. The conclusion of the project was to display the value of sermons that seek to change lives as well as the importance of the faithfulness and humility of the preachers to the Word of God. The thesis is about developing Mandarin ministry in the Chinese Alliance Churches of Australia. It is to plant a mandarin speaking congregation in a Chinese church using the resources from both Cantonese congregations and second-generation English congregation. Using interviews with churches that have existing Mandarin ministry with mainland Chinese, the author researched and examined the contributing factors to an effective strategy to develop Mandarin ministry. The thesis was, God impacts and transforms Samaritan volunteers through face to face encounters with the migrant, 'Jesus.' The research included interviewing eight participants who gave 'testimonios' that documented evidence of transformation. The evidence parallels Mark's Gospel where Jesus called people to follow his 'Way' that ultimately transformed all areas of a person's life. Four factors were studies, which included: the presence of friendly American Christians, bilingual meetings, American cultural presentation, and small group Bible study fellowship with American Christians. All these factors have positive effect in attracting the target group to the ministry and make the ministry more
