The equipping model was utilized in this project. The project began with the project director's research on the biblical doctrines and concluded with the equipping of the select group of believers. The research included demographic data specific to the Hmong people community in northeast Georgia, USA, and personal evangelism strategies available to train Christians locally and nationally. Evangelical communities have become fragmented due to a number of destructive behaviors. The result is that a convergence of powerful stresses in directly harming the Brazilian community. Despite the diversity of beliefs and practices, many Brazilian immigrants have been sustained in the displacement and adaptation to American society by regular church attendance.  However, many have burned out. There is a dearth of research addressing addiction and spiritual abuse among members of Brazilian Christian Churches.  The goal of this thesis is to explore and clearly identify how this spiritual abuse has occurred, what its impacts on the community are and to suggest some approaches to heal the victims. First, the paper examines some of the root causes of dysfunction in Brazilian churches. Second, a review of pertinent literature on understanding Brazilians and their faith is presented. Third, systems thinking is used to determine the current level of dysfunction and abuse in order to identify strategies for healing. The overall framework of this project is reflected in what Dr. Eldin Villafañe refers to as 'the hermeneutical circle of social ethics.' The description of this paradigm involved three important steps, which have each been presented from a systemic point of view: Clarification - what's going on? Conceptualization - what does the Bible and other pertinent discipline say? Confrontation - how do we respond? The first step, clarification involves doing careful social analysis to gain a contextual and comprehensive picture of the issue. It includes three important elements: the context of the Latino immigrants, the relevant needs of the LAtino immigrants, and the context of the Congregation Candelero de Dios (it is the introduction and chapter one). The second step, conceptualization involves biblical and theological reflection. The third step, confrontation involves developing clear strategies that flow out of confluence of the first two steps (chapter five). This study explores aspects of Caribbean immigrant identity and Caribbean Christian thinking. Using exegesis of Peter's first letter, written to persons he describes as 'aliens' and 'strangers,' and using interviews and questionnaires, the study seeks to develop a perspective for preachers who will minister to 'diasporic Caribbean Christians.' This research project proposes a way of understanding the needs of immigrants, especially those who are first-generation Hispanic. A theology of pastoral care as described in the experience of the Israelites in Exodus and in their exile experience in Babylon is used as a departure point and reference for a caring response to the needs of immigrants. Personal histories are included to give voice to the multiple and complex challenges facing immigrants. The researcher used a qualitative heuristic research model to identify historical, theological, sociological, psychological, and educational bases for successful integration of Hispanic children into a parish school.
