Jung's concept of the archetype discloses the possibility of understanding literature and myth as creative forces that shape our spiritual and psychological development.  This dissertation investigates the three main versions of the legend of the Holy Grail, Perceval, Perlesvaus and the Queste del Saint Graal, for their archetypal descriptions of the Warrior (Perceval), Magician (Merlin), Lover (Lancelot) and King (Arthur).  Modern examples are also given for these four archetypes--George S. Patton, Vincent van Gogh, C.S. Lewis and Dag Hammerskjold--as paradigms for the expression and spiritual possibilities for modern men. First, the author conducted a telephone survey of forty of two hundred men who responded to an earlier evangelistic proclamation. he then produced and presented four lessons on follow-up which were evaluated by seven members of the ministry team.
