PTM is a multiracial, nondenominational men's ministry.  Fifteen Patus participated in the project (three groups of five) and two retreats in Portland, Oregon which were held three weeks apart. Instruments used were pre/post identity, relationship and satisfactions surveys. A framework for leadership development was established through an overview of biblical and church history and an examination of current leadership development trends. Intervention consisted of a series of sermons, 'Nehemiah on leadership,' and a small group study on 'The measure of a man' by Gene Getz. Analyses were performed to determine their effectiveness. It identified social and personal reasons for addiction, and by a series of interviews and questionnaires with present and past members of the program, with mission staff, volunteers in churches and other recovery programs, it determined that the steps did lead to the outcomes, but that they needed to reflect better progression, relapse prevention, and emotional growth.
