Preaching that uses narratives and imagery, and is delivered orally, enables the Gospel to be heard and appropriated.  The research includes interviews with elderly churchgoers to find out about their life experiences, and a portrait of ageing compiled from literature.  Sermons for a congregation of elderly are compared to sermons on the same text for a mixed age congregation.  Signs of God's transforming grace at work are noted.  Preaching that is oral and embodied, using stories and images, is really effective. The program utilized Korean family values by reconstructing the ideology of filial piety.  It was implemented by the researcher,a Korean-American pastor, in a European-American congregation.  Volunteers learned about the needs of the frail elderly, namely, mental depression, physical disability, isolation and loneliness.
