The training program included didactic seminars, counseling sessions, group discussion, case studies, and role play.  Experimental and descriptive research methodologies were used with control and experimental groups.  Statistically significant growth was measured in the deacons' understanding of senior adult needs, crime's impact on senior adults, and counseling senior adult victims. The project applies the concept of hospitality to the development of a specialized older adult ministry.  The study examines the characteristics and needs of older adults and notes the biases held by society against the elderly.  By using insights from social marketing theory, hospitality was expressed by carrying out need assessment, program design, implementation, and evaluation for an older adult ministry in a particular congregation. An evangelistic program entitled the ISAAC plan (Inviting Senior Adults to Accept Christ) was established. The project involves the recruitment, training and deployment of a small group of senior lay pastoral and sacramental assistants in a suburban Anglican parish.  The author uses phenomenological research methodology, and as participant-observer describes changes in the participants' self-assessed spiritual status, using as data before and after interviews. Project data comes from older adults interacting within separate groups who, differing by age, religious affiliation, health, cultural-ethnicity, gender, and education, met weekly for sixteen weeks sharing 'stories of aging' and responding to questionnaires and studies in aging.  Participants' responses focus on the church's role in empowering older adults to create prophetic, serving, hopeful communities of peers.
