This is the case for Santee Presbyterian Church (SC) where the youngest member is fifty-five and most of the members are retired.  Where possible, corporate worship, Christian education, evangelism, and fellowship are tailored to meet the needs of these older adults.  The theological, psychological, and physiological factors associated with senior adults is incorporated into the programs. This project addresses these needs by pairing home-bound church members with church school members.  The class member makes a weekly visit, plays a tape recording of the class session, discusses and records the home-bound member's reflections on the curriculum, and speaks about and for the elderly member at the next class meeting. This is accomplished through a series of surveys that look at spiritual needs, feelings about worship, and suggestions from pastors.  An examination of the historical, sociological, and theological perspectives show that ours is an aging society and there are few resources and aids to meet the seniors' spiritual needs. The methodology included: 1) researched words in the field of gerontology; 2) categorized the material to cover the four areas of adjustment; 3) prepared material for the four sessions; 4) prepared worksheets for seniors to use; 5) had seniors evaluate the sessions; and 6) had seniors respond to ways they'd like to be more involved.  The objectives of the project were accomplished by providing seniors with greater insight into the adjustments they must make in different areas of life and also providing more meaningful ministry. Elderly Jewish people were interviewed to ascertain their coping with bereavement and to see whether there is any correlation between their religious practices and their ablilty to cope with loss. Simultaneously, bereavement support groups were organized for the elderly and were co-counseled by a rabbi and social worker from the Jewish family service. This has affected badly the care of the aged.  Based on empirical investigation and the theological-pastoral proposition, the church must have a ministry to the aged. The project argues that a school for the aged can be an important part of the ministry to the aged. Nine men and nine women (mean=74 yrs) constituted the control group.  Both groups were pre-tested with the Templer Death Anxiety Scale and the Lester Attitude Toward Death Scale and post-tested with the Templer Death Anxiety Scale and the Collett-Lester Fear of Death Scale.  The null-hypothesis was confirmed: the educational module was not statistically significant in altering death and dying fear/anxiety in the treatment group.
