Churches need to be a part of the solution.  Most churches are not aware of how to help, nor of the influence they can have in their community.  The project describes the development of a rotating church shelter in the community. From the initial planning to the evaluation of the effect on the community, this report describes the impact the church had regarding homelessness.  The success of this project resulted in the interaction between churches across denominational lines. The author facilitated a university tutorial by which he and students confronted the homeless problem in Connecticut through individuals directly affected by and involved with it.  By confronting their fears and prejudices toward homeless people and discovering the similarities they shared, students were able to explore ways they and the church may overcome social barriers to become effective tools of change.
