The manipulation of prison inmates is analyzed and presented with practical means of countering its effect on prison personnel and volunteers.  This is done using a number of psychological approaches to understand and block manipulation and is integrated into a monotheistic theological understanding.  The options presented promote the readers' protection and the inmates' positive decisional change, through everyday types of interactions. The format is a non-residential facility receiving probationary or paroled offenders referred by the court or self upon release.  The client reported twice weekly for twelve months and received spiritual and psychological support and a full range of social services for self and family.  Insights from process theology provide the theological perspective.
