The program utilized self disclosure and group discovery techniques to enhance positive self-concept perceptions. The study sought to bring to each participant's awareness that they possess powerful inner resources that can help them overcome personal impediments for a successful return to society. The key to their empowerment is the daily resolution of inner conflicts. Research indicates this would reduce the likelihood of recifivism. The University of Rhode Island Change Assessment Scale was used to measure inmate attitudes toward change. A prison sentence affords women time to reflect on their lives and accept the salvation that Jesus Christ offers. This curriculum emphasized issues of self-worth, abuse, forgiveness, the development of a biblically accurate view of God, guidance toward spiritual maturity and a plan for continued relationship with Christ after parole.
