Seventy-six million baby boomers will begin the retirement process in 2006, and, judging from the writer's research, most boomers are not ready to move into retirement, nor will they retire in the same way the previous generation did. Many boomers desire to transition into retirement -- cut back to part-time, move in and out of a variety of jobs, or even start a new business that will fulfill a dream. They are looking for significance, have a desire to 'give back,' and have serious financial concerns. Because it is heavily populated with boomers, the church is certainly going to experience a change because of this prodigious movement of retiring boomers. With adequate preparation and vision, the church is also in the position to reap Kingdom rewards by engaging the boomer in Kingdom work. This project was designed to understand the boomer woman, her needs and desires as she moves toward retirement, and also to discover ways the church can respond to the boomer and her desire to give back. The end result is a proposal and a plan for both the institution and the individual to equally benefit from this new and eager workforce."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131700357496832,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:51:39.931Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:26:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:19:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ea5eecee-2f72-4718-b14b-65164f796de3","accessControl_ssim":["ea5cecdd-486d-4d74-987a-eb3f4b1cd127"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["How the Trench Town Seventh-Day Adventist Church can effectively minister to the needs of teenage mothers in crisis"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:26:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:50:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a254321e-b803-47d2-8eec-6fa0cedb1b5b"],"hasLease_ssim":["6820e4ca-4bbf-4fdf-a27a-7f954446a348"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley P Saunders"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lorenzo Richard Brown"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with women","Trench Town Seventh-Day Adventist Church (Kingston, Jamaica)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The influx of teenage mothers is on the rise in Trench Town Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The church's primary mission is carrying out the task of fulfilling the Great Commission, and the New Testament concept of discipleship is the primary focus of the church's ministry. The New Testament concept of discipleship is imitating Christ to become like Him in love, obedience, and good work; thus, the goal of the church's overall ministry is the believer's Christian maturity to the fullness of Christ. Committing one's life to Jesus Christ and faithfully following Him, and leading others to be His disciples is true Christian ministry: as practiced by women to women, this is true women's ministry. Women following Jesus Christ and becoming disciple-makers in a theology for effective ministry to women. The qualitative proactive research method will be used in this project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129012999815168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:08:57.068Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:15:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:15:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ab56bd6f-c275-4085-a9eb-8b5e8a83b42d","accessControl_ssim":["627ec2a1-7b5a-453a-948c-dd45ea76ae87"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development of guidelines for understanding and care of spousal abuse: centered on the Omega KUMC"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:15:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:04:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["60e1ac52-78d3-46e1-b264-db80ae7c6dc3"],"hasLease_ssim":["b3f3cc70-2bb4-4aa1-a74b-41174e8cedcf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kyunglim Shin Lee"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The issue of spousal abuse has combined with theological, biblical and socio-cultural misunderstandings. Misquoted Bible verses, exaggerated theological doctrines, and teachings in the church have added more guilt and self-denouncement to the suffering for victims of spousal abuse. This, in turn, provided the abusers with an excuse, a rationalization, and a justification for the abuse. It is time to clarify the wrongful misunderstandings and prejudices in the new millennium. We should open a new era of the church in Christ, as a model for God's reign, void of discrimination among Jews, Greeks, women, men, both slaves and free. At the same time, in Korean culture and surroundings, unless we change the dominant subordinating social structure that is patriarchal and gender exclusive, and shatter the systematic cultural structure, it is impossible to get rid of the roots of abuse which are deeply embedded in the cultures and lives of Koreans. This study attempts to clarify the realities of domestic violence, research the ways to help the abusers and the victims of spousal abuse, and establish such guidelines."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125653706244096,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:15:33.396Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:00:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:49:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b4ab263e-12b3-4cf6-ab88-39aefbe2372a","accessControl_ssim":["4b536868-695c-4cd6-b7d8-4005630ee671"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Brand new life: Christian curriculum for building lives after domestic abuse"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:00:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:20:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ee793dd9-5001-409a-a884-af947bf2bb84"],"hasLease_ssim":["9b5897fd-dba2-4b00-8a3b-07cf31d4c6a4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Christine Eaton Blair"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ernest A Benson"],"publisher_tesim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with abuse victims","Abused women","Bible--Study","Church work with women"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores practical, psychological and theological issues related to domestic or intimate partner abuse of women.
