This project explores the rationale and the biblical guidelines for the training of youth pastors.  It also presents a youth ministry concentration model designed for that purpose. Included is a study of the training of youth pastors in the Assemblies of God and more specifically at Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God.  Southeastern's prior effectiveness in preparing men and women to be youth pastors is evaluated through surveying alumni who graduated over a twelve-year period.  Others who are experienced in the field of youth ministry were asked to evaluate the youth ministry concentration model. The project included: two sermons, thirteen teaching sessions, and a congregation-wide education activity.  Responses by the participants were compared to a similar group at Elizabethtown Baptist and the sophomore class at Bladenboro High School.  The project met its purpose and goal, but the small population sample made statistical inference inconclusive. The reader will discover that young adults' faith requires an appropriate language and framework to intersect their faith with the socio-cultural milieu.  Exploration of how a developing faith and the existential struggles of a young adult intersect was done through a journaling and group experience, using a group of young adults from the western suburbs of Sydney.  It was found that young adults are in a liminal period and require a specific ministry that uses a mentor figure to shape their personal dream. The author distributed a questionnaire among the youth of the city to determine their needs.  The author tested and trained a group of eleven sports instructors from the First Baptist Church to implement the project.  The posttest indicated an increase in the instructors' commitment to personal evangelism, flexibility in ministry and the use of sports as a viable tool in ministry.  The author and instructors designed and produced materials to be used in the sports clinics. The concept of 'covenant' was examined, as were factors which inhibited or enhanced relationships.  Methodology relied heavily upon activities appropriate for youth: worksheets, role play, skit, video, and team work.  Youth developed a statement of relationship to which they subscribed in a formal 'covenant ceremony.' The purpose of this practicum/project was to gain insights into the world of African-American youths; to identify major problems, concerns and needs; and to determine whether ministry programs informed through dialogue with youth offer greater appeal and increased probabilities for reaching and keeping more of the youth population active in the church.  Project participants consisted of African-American church and high school youths offering personal views of their world and issues of concern, utilizing open forums and survey forms.  The revealing data offered and the high levels of interest displayed during the study revealed that they have many good ideas to share and desire greater dialogue with the church. with its current leadership
