The project took place in the context of the high school youth group of Northview Bible Church in Spokane, Washington.  It included biblical teaching and interviews of Christian professionals followed by voluntary student participation in a survey and in focus groups to measure understanding and plans for implementation. The difference between the pretest and posttest in the desire of the Christian adolescents to abstain from premarital sex was statistically significant. Shame must be attended to, or ita has the probability of manifesting in many harmful ways. Healing shame-based personalities is a sure way to find healing and wholeness. Shame is a deep social problem leading even more so to profound social, emotional and personality disorders. The purpose of this research is to bring attention to the plight of African American adolescent males and their problems with shame. This weekend training seminar culminated in a lab experience, which consisted of leading a youth small group. The project director researched resources in the field of mentoring and youth culture and developed an annotated bibliography and a curriculum with the help of experts in the field of education. The director created the training curriculum used in a seven-session workshop with a selected group of adults who volunteered to serve as mentors at the request of student mentees. The curriculum for the workshop was developed with the guidance of professionals in the area of curriculum and instructional design. The researcher built a case for developing young leaders uniquely, highlighting the cognitive, physical, moral and spiritual development of children. The researcher identified generational attributes unique to today's child and strengths awareness as factors that will influence their development as leaders. The research was qualitative in nature using a multiple case study approach. Two leadership programs for children were studied, KidLead and J12. This listener study surveyed 651 Catholic high school students to determine what makes for effective connection with them. Focus groups, clergy interviews, observational research, and literature review further developed that knowledge. Statistical analysis upended certain widely held assumptions. Regular Mass attendees rated the person of their preacher highly.
