The researcher built a case for developing young leaders uniquely, highlighting the cognitive, physical, moral and spiritual development of children. The researcher identified generational attributes unique to today's child and strengths awareness as factors that will influence their development as leaders. The research was qualitative in nature using a multiple case study approach. Two leadership programs for children were studied, KidLead and J12. The project director utilized the ministry skills enhancement model to develop this project. He researched effective preaching principles through the development of an annotated bibliography. Upon determination of those effective preaching principles, the project director developed a series of four sermons. This listener study surveyed 651 Catholic high school students to determine what makes for effective connection with them. Focus groups, clergy interviews, observational research, and literature review further developed that knowledge. Statistical analysis upended certain widely held assumptions. Regular Mass attendees rated the person of their preacher highly. The project director began this project by studying relevant works that address how to develop rapport when preaching to teenagers. After interviewing teenagers and itinerant communicators, the project director identified three preaching techniques that communicators can use to develop rapport with unacquainted teenage audiences. This project examines the biblical and historical roots of disciple-making and presents a method of equipping parents to disciple their children. This type of face-to-face disciple-making restores the highly relational nature of Christian discipleship. Through a workshop and ongoing contact with their pastor, parents were mentored in parent-child disciple-making and spent twenty weeks developing a disciple-making relationship with their teenage children. However, many yearn for stronger connections with God and others who value spirituality. Through reflection, worship, and service, we engaged with the young adults of our church.
