The reader will discover that young adults' faith requires an appropriate language and framework to intersect their faith with the socio-cultural milieu.  Exploration of how a developing faith and the existential struggles of a young adult intersect was done through a journaling and group experience, using a group of young adults from the western suburbs of Sydney.  It was found that young adults are in a liminal period and require a specific ministry that uses a mentor figure to shape their personal dream. The author distributed a questionnaire among the youth of the city to determine their needs.  The author tested and trained a group of eleven sports instructors from the First Baptist Church to implement the project.  The posttest indicated an increase in the instructors' commitment to personal evangelism, flexibility in ministry and the use of sports as a viable tool in ministry.  The author and instructors designed and produced materials to be used in the sports clinics. The concept of 'covenant' was examined, as were factors which inhibited or enhanced relationships.  Methodology relied heavily upon activities appropriate for youth: worksheets, role play, skit, video, and team work.  Youth developed a statement of relationship to which they subscribed in a formal 'covenant ceremony.' The purpose of this practicum/project was to gain insights into the world of African-American youths; to identify major problems, concerns and needs; and to determine whether ministry programs informed through dialogue with youth offer greater appeal and increased probabilities for reaching and keeping more of the youth population active in the church.  Project participants consisted of African-American church and high school youths offering personal views of their world and issues of concern, utilizing open forums and survey forms.  The revealing data offered and the high levels of interest displayed during the study revealed that they have many good ideas to share and desire greater dialogue with the church. The project did so through the high school's active support of parish youth retreats, through encouragement of student involvement in the ministries of the parish and through providing school time and space for interaction of the parish staffs and their youth on a quarterly basis.  A pre- and post-project self-report questionnaire was administered to the student participants as a means of determining the success of the project.
