The study also gives a model for baptismal preparation.  The method of study is a survey sent to two groups, adults who were baptized when junior youth and pastors and teachers in the KS-NE conference. The results show that the expectations differ between the two groups with respect to peer influence, personal conviction, and religious behavior. Youth received training in developing ministry skills, mission awareness, and personal evangelism. Church youth groups made commitments to apply the training received to a mission project in their local community. In 1987 six of thirty churches who participated successfully completed projects.  Improvements were made and twelve of nineteen churches successfully conducted local ministry projects in 1988. A series of three seminars on communicating sexual information are conducted for parents. Separate retreats are conducted for junior and senior high youth covering physiological information, biblical perspectives, emotional concerns and decision making. This project presents one method of dealing with this problem.  The type of therapy provided and examined in this context is group therapy sponsored by the church.  The theological, psychological and practical implications of this therapy are examined as to their effects upon the group in general and the individual adolescents participating in the group.  Case studies are also presented as a way of examining the group's effectiveness. Twelve to fifteen year old youth were invited to participate in eight two-hour sessions.  Four of the eight sessions also included parents of the youth. The author provides a theory of the adolescent's psychic life.  He proposes a promising alternative treatment that is multi-faceted.  It insists that adolescents grow into adults by becoming responsible for their own behavior.
