Therefore, the focus of this project is to establish mentoring relationships to help get young people involved, especially in leadership roles where they can contribute to the church. Christian spirituality is an intimate encounter with God, the source of change and maturity as a gift of God 's grace. Spiritual formation is a lifelong process, and adolescence is a valuable time to prepare for the spiritual formation. In Korean society, however, youths are suffering from spiritual and psychological poverty due to the college entrance exam-centered educational system and losing the opportunity of spiritual formation. Implementation occurred on the Westside of Detroit, Michigan. The mixed research utilized: (1) participant observations; (2) focus groups; (3) survey and questionnaires; and (4) data collection from interviews, newspapers and published reports. The findings clarified approaches for community engagement and isolated barriers. The summary conclusion supports the church, collaborative partners and residents' engagement in community events that may significantly reduce youth violence. A set of pre-class questionnaires was designed with two purposes: one purpose was to collect data through the online questionnaires for the youth ministry advisors and ministers; the other purpose was to interview adolescent disciples of the second generation from churches.     The results revealed that daily life experiences with the Lord were the main drivers for the growth of young Christians. Phenomenology was the research methodology used which revealed that hip hoppers commonly experience (1) their ability to relate to hip hop artists; (2) the opportunity for self-expression; (3) the influence of the music on behavior and mood; and (4) the respect for authenticity on the part of the hip hop artist.
