The project director identified and enlisted students, ages thirteen to eighteen, who desired to enhance their understanding of discipleship skills and were active members of Airline Baptist Church. Using an equipping model, students were trained in basic discipleship skills and were then taught how to train other students. Students were trained in understanding their salvation and sharing their testimonies, reading Scripture within its context, studying the elements of prayer, serving in the local church, and equipping other students to do the same. The program director used research to develop teaching plans that were used in training the students. Evaluation of the project director's knowledge and effectiveness of the training occurred at the end of the training sessions. Since 2005, the unchurched segment among this age group increased from 44% to 52%.  The project sought to demonstrate that activating spiritual gifts in young adults, complemented by mentoring and training, increases their church attendance and commitment to God. Research methodologies included cognitive interviews, pre and post surveys, structured observations, leadership development, written testimonials and participation in church activities.  Hypothesis testing measured attitudinal changes related to awareness, actions, perception and reasoning. With this conviction he examined the conditions of the Korean Church and the local church, the Bok-Ji church, he was serving as a senior pastor, and found that the church had too much focused on the side of individual salvation with paying little attention to joining the universal salvific work of God. At the end of his thesis, based on his Wesleyan belief and his pastoral experience, the researcher proposed on how a local church can operate its social welfare ministry successfully. A number of at-risk youth were used for this project.  The research was done through qualitative studies, evaluations, counseling, spiritual training, and mentoring by parents, teachers, counselors and church leaders. This thesis argues that a greater number of youth can be retained if the preachers have a positive ethos with the youth. This thesis analyzes the Armenian evangelical community and outlines reasons for both negative and positive ethos. Through personal experience, interviews and surveys, a clearer picture of the role of the preacher emerges. The project took place in the context of the high school youth group of Northview Bible Church in Spokane, Washington.  It included biblical teaching and interviews of Christian professionals followed by voluntary student participation in a survey and in focus groups to measure understanding and plans for implementation. A group of 18-26 year olds will partner with a fifty-something pastor in sermon preparation for three months. The group will reflect on selected biblical texts and provide insights for sermon development.  Data from the group, the preached sermons, sermon evaluations, and interviews with key stakeholders will inform recommendations for next steps.
