The discussion focuses on the development of the concept and its later implementation in a Roman Catholic parish. It demonstrates the unique character of collaborative ministry. The process of building collaborative ministry in an archaic parish in a conservative, rural, working-class suburb is outlined. Theological foundations, ecclesiastical and canonical concerns are carefully addressed. The biblical model of shepherd is examined. Drawing on Richard Baxter's The Reformed pastor and more recent sources, historical foundations for pastoral care are reviewed. Current issues and changing cultural climates that influence and hinder pastoral visitation are considered. A plan for visitation is developed in conversation with groups within the local congregation. This question is the driving force behind this project and can be divided into three distinct components. The first component deals with the pastor as leader. The pastor above any other person should be the 'spiritual influencer' within the local church. The second component deals with the overall spiritual formation of the congregation. The third component deals with the spiritual development of elementary school-aged children. To address the third component, without giving adequate attention to the first two, would be a futile attempt at fixing a problem in our church that is deep and multi-faceted. Research revealed: (1) conferring occurred minimally; (2) conferring in participant group study revitalized Conference; (3) conferring through committees altered Conference. Working within a Free Church polity, it then suggests there is much the church can to do connect its pastors to the lines of support, authorization and accountability they need for healthier ministry. Its six chapters offer:  1. an introduction on the need to think in expanded terms about our connections; 2. a definition and description of pastoral isolation; 3. a history of the principle of autonomy and its misunderstanding; 4. an analysis of individualism and social virtue, and the personal and communal power needed to balance them; 5. a covenantal ecclesiology upon which to base its recommendations; and 6. a church-wide plan to provide the connecting elements required, the hallmark of which is a thorough recasting of the role and structure of UCC Associations. The current salary structure is based on a corporate model that encourages greed and the desire for upward mobility. An alternative model should be grounded in biblical and Wesleyan understandings of stewardship. In developing this model the author used the Pro-Active Research Method. The study examines John Knox Presbytery (a presbytery of 64 churches and 105 resident ministers located in the upper Midwest region along a stretch of the Mississippi River involving portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa), in which attempts are being made to develop a community of clergy through gatherings of clergy for worship, education, development and support. The sample consisted of 257 domestic and foreign pastors surveyed anonymously by mail concerning 14 pastoral task areas and five Internet features. Two-thirds had access to the Internet, claiming e-mail and pornography as its greatest advantage and disadvantage, respectively. Survey results also revealed a surprising lack of discrepancy in generations of Internet users. Preferred web sites, time and tasks online, and Internet education comprised other topics analyzed. The action-research model was used to compile information relative to this ministerial issue. Surveys were sent to district superintendents, district presbyters, and twelve working pastors of the Oklahoma district. The purpose of the surveys was to determine what the working pastors were thinking. The hypothesis was that not much is being done to assist the working pastors in dealing with their frustrations. A survey of Christian and Missionary Alliance (C\u0026MA) pastors and staff was completed in 1998 using the Western Pennsylvania District of the C\u0026MA as a sample. The survey sought to determine the rate of forced exits and factors involved in forced exits. These rates and factors were compared to two previous studies of forced exits (Crowell, 1990, and LaRue, 1996).
