Primarily, respondents found the resource to be understandable because of its concise directions, clearly written items, and understandable vocabulary. Secondarily, respondents agreed that the resource reflected biblical values, revealed biblical leadership principles, and was biblically based. There are so many expectations upon pastors and it is very difficult to know where to focus our energies and efforts. This research includes a survey of 45 Disciple pastors and the congregations they serve. The results were that church vitality is directly related to certain pastoral leadership practices. The conclusions are as follows: The role of the pastor is to be a visionary bridge building leader. The role of the pastor is to lead his/her congregation into a deeper Christian spirituality. The role of the pastor is to help lead the congregation toward developing more fluid/organic governance structures. It develops an argument for the need for greater theological reflection on the vocation of preaching for modern preachers.  It does so by outlining current challenges in homiletical education and ecclesial calls for greater vocational formation for preachers.  It suggests that the writings of Humbert of Romans, in his work The Treatise on Preaching, can help modern preachers gain deeper vocational awareness. Chapter two introduces the general cultural context of the thirteenth century.  It discusses the emergence of the two great mendicant orders the Dominicans and the Franciscans.  It sets into context the life and ministry of Humbert of Romans, the fifth Master General of the Dominican Order and offers a theological analysis of Section One of The Treatise on Preaching. Chapter three introduces a 'dialogue partner' to set alongside the Humbert material. The goal of the dialogue partner was to appropriately apply the material in a practical and contemporary setting.  The chapter does this by way of curriculum development and pastoral practice.  Theories of adult learning are explored and a retreat curriculum is developed that enables the Humbert material to be considered by preachers in a spiritual and educational setting.Chapter four explains a methodology for determining the effectiveness of the retreat for vocational awareness and examines the feedback from participants. Feedback included written questionnaires, video assessment and field observation.  This feedback is used to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the retreat in achieving the goals and outcomes outlined in chapter three. Chapter five offers a review of the entirety of the project based on Scripture verses about preaching which framed the content of each chapter. Using style approach on leadership, the study evaluated how a change of a pastor's leadership in EunHyun church affected members' behavioral change.  To test the research question, the study identified and assessed the previous and current pastors' leadership style.  Subsequently, members were administered a survey in which three main variables were explored.  The current pastor had a more relationship-focusing leadership than the previous pastor. The action research method guided this intervention and engaged thirty-nine pastors and a group of laity in training, surveys, and interviews which examined this researcher's practice in the Capitol District. This thesis argues that a greater number of youth can be retained if the preachers have a positive ethos with the youth. This thesis analyzes the Armenian evangelical community and outlines reasons for both negative and positive ethos. Through personal experience, interviews and surveys, a clearer picture of the role of the preacher emerges. The research findings reveal that the institutional leadership brought by the early British missionaries to Africa served its purpose at the time. However, as we move into the 21st century, this mode of leadership becomes inadequate for the church and Tidings of Faith. The research revealed that institutional leadership has failed to address all the questions of leadership distance between clergy and laity, that the clergy have been saddled with the work of running almost every aspect of the ministry while the laity almost always become spectators, and there has been no conscious attempt within this ministry to train laity for future leadership continuity. The researcher proposed team leadership as an effective and up-to-date option for Tidings of Faith in the years ahead.
