Parish ministers leave pastorates (and even the ministry) due to burnout, its symptoms, and other factors. High pastoral turnover rates are counterproductive to local church effectiveness. This qualitative study used a researcher-designed, semi-structured interview to gather data from thirty United States Nazarene pastors to comment on a presumed positive connection between sabbaticals, reduced burnout symptoms, and increased tenure The study finds that Nazarene pastor sabbaticals have a positive reactive and preventative impact on ministry tenure and the pastor's ability to manage burnout symptoms. Sabbaticals typically lengthen local parish tenure but occasionally help pastors prepare spiritually for a new ministry assignment. The research method employed was a qualitative examination that primarily utilized the focus group method.  The author identified four summary lessons from the research.  There is a considerable need among Southern Baptist churches in Illinois for clergy evaluation processes.  There are successful feedback models that look very different.  A lay-involved process is stronger because it engages the opinions of laity and encourages teamwork. They desire a friendly, faith filled community that has an affirming and welcoming pastoral staff. The project methodology uses exploratory questions for the self-administered questionnaire, focus groups and personal interviews. The data analysis of the variables resulted in the following conclusions: 96% of the returnees actively search for a parish; they want a pastor who preaches and prays well; they want to be involved in ministry both within and beyond the parish. The author chose four case studies of pastors and churches in the Presbyterian Church USA who are the 'Joshua' following the 'Moses' of their churches. The long pastorates range from twenty-one to forty- five years. The churches are thriving in increases of worship attendance, membership, budget and staff. This project focused on gender relations among clergy full members of the Kansas West Conference of the United Methodist Church. Using theology and the cognitive mode from psychology, the author looked at intermediate and core beliefs and automatic thoughts of clergy toward each other. Its purpose is to be of benefit to the Project Leader, the participating pastors and the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  As a beginning point the project leader will select a group of culturally diverse pastors whose churches cooperate with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  These pastors will attend training sessions designed to assist them in their understanding of vision in general; however, the focus is the vision of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  Other training sessions will involve the study of church and community demographics and an examination of the culture of the pastor and his congregation. Finally, the pastors will be encouraged to discover how the vision of the Baptist General Convention of Texas might be relevant in their culture and environment.  The vision of the Baptist General Convention of Texas is built around the concept of churches being the presence of Christ in the world.
