Through comparing life-issues identified by church members with those identified by members of the community who called the police for help, the author exposed issues the preacher would be unaware of unless his or her contact goes beyond the church.  Further, through the comparison of sermon feedback provided by church members and by non-church attenders, the author highlighted differences in the way preaching is perceived by the two discover the parameters of acceptable beliefs for candidates for ordination and commissioning within the Evangelical Free Church of America on this subject.  Eleven such views are identified and evaluated.  These eleven views were then submitted in survey form to selected leaders within the above-mentioned denomination in order to determine the boundaries within its leadership structure for acceptable beliefs on this topic. The experience of an 'aftercare' pastor in a congregation following pastoral sexual misconduct is reported through the use of journal excerpts and a case study.  Interviews are part of the pastoral care model. The voices of victims are heard in seven interviews, direct source material for researchers. The research was condensed, structured and presented to selected trainees who would possibly become facilitators of local ministerial support groups.  Positive results have been established by six of the trainees. Those who counsel in institutional settings in particular are struggling with the need and/or the opportunity to counsel those with whom they have some other role.  This is especially true for the individual who offers counseling within the bounds of the local church community.  A minister in the local church setting has many roles in the life of a congregation.  With these diverse roles in place, church members and others in the community turn to the minister for counseling.  The project is intended to shed light on duality and offer guidelines for the pastoral counselor who does counseling in the immediate context of the local church.  The issue of duality is studied from the perspectives of object relations theory and pastoral theology. The author delineates such congregational dynamics from the perspective of after pastors in Wisconsin and Illinois. Books by Marie Fortune and Peter Rutter describe the interpersonal dynamics between abuser and victim.  The author proposes a number of pastoral skills needed for the healing of such a congregation. Koinonia is defined as a consensual partnership between a church's membership and minister(s) in which the roles and expectations of each party for the other are explicitly understood.  The significant conclusions of this paper are that through a covenant process the reality of koinonia between laity and clergy as envisioned by the New Testament can be established and maintained in the local church today. Sessions included theological foundations of wellness, a medical evaluation of each participant, identification of healthy eating and exercise habits, and application of learnings to the local church and community.  All participants met at least one of their goals relating to diet and/or exercise. Mail surveys were sent to 200 Presbyterian Church in America clergymen (and wives), with 275 of the 400 returned.  Seven hypotheses were tested.  Sufficient variance of depressive tendencies with the public was not indicated, nor variance between clergy and wives. Correlation was not sufficiently associated with size of congregation, ministerial position, nor age.  Correlation was significantly correlated to overall health and a network of supporting friends.
