If so, is it also possible for leadership style to have a positive effect on members' participation?  The purpose of this project is to determine the relationship between pastoral leadership style and church membership participation and to design a model of leadership style that can enhance membership participation.  The project affirmed that style can be a contributing factor to membership participation but there is not one style that will always enhance membership participation. A curriculum was designed that consisted of six sessions on the biblical and theological bases for shared ministry.  A study of similar churches was conducted in four sessions.  Recommendations to increase lay involvement were formulated in the final two sessions.  The project was evaluated by the experimental and descriptive survey methods. This study involved the placement process within the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida during the past five years. Thirty parishes were evaluated after placement of clergy to determine the matching process' success.  The result of the examination indicated that the process works when followed carefully and without circumvention. The pastor made one home visit before the ceremony of confirmation and the second visit afterwards.  The information gleaned from these conversations shed light on the inner life of the families, their systems, traditions, hurts and hopes. Surveys were distributed to families and small groups before and after two special worship series, to evaluate the congregation's worship life.  Each series responded to needs expressed in the initial survey.
