Using quantitative and qualitative research methods to study the impact of the revitalization training on the participants, the researcher concluded that the hypothesis was correct.  The theological chapter studies church revitalization leaders as strategic, missionary leaders. The project uses semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and participatory group observation to collect data on change in clergy participants' leadership of missional growth before and after implementation of skills derived from the practice of midwifery.  The data collected measures change in discernment ability and effectiveness in advancing mission. Balancing the complex nature of the church, relationships, family life, spiritual and personal life provides the minister with a struggle that rarely ceases. Pursuing self-care within this environment can provide relief to the struggle but is difficult to do alone. The study seeks to provide a model for local church leadership to support their minister so he or she can successfully manage ministry and personal life through self-care practices. The project identified ministers employed in Stone-Campbell churches with a weekly attendance of less than 125 in Minnesota and Wisconsin. A survey was sent to these ministers asking what types of support they receive from their congregation and leadership. The results of the survey identified five ministers who received the highest support. These five ministers were interviewed to determine the relationship between the church leadership support and their self care practices. The biblical and theological review examined the imago Dei's relationship with the elements of self-care with a priority towards spiritual formation. The literature review identified six strategies for successful self-care practice. The interviews identified three relationships that influence the practice of a minister's self-care. The researcher reviewed biblical model of the leader/follower relationship or Moses/Joshua, Elijah/Elisha, and Jesus/the disciples. A literature review of transformational leadership and follower-focused leadership models was completed. Servant leadership, situation leadership, and redemptive leadership were examined. Followership was included to understand the emerging leader's responsibility. Three developmental timelines were considered as well. The study resulted a framework for pastors to consider in developing emerging leaders. Emerging leader development involves four areas: spiritual, personal, leadership, and ministry skills. The most disturbing facts of the termination data are the reasons cited. Since 1983 the most-reported reasons for termination are not moral failure (lying, stealing, sexual immorality), false teaching, or any other violation of biblical qualifications, but rather nonspecific reasons such as control issues, pastor's leadership style too strong/weak, or decline in membership. The result of the discovery was that the Church of God clergy have an overall compliance factor of 6.03 in their general adherence to the Practical Commitments. The researcher conducted a biblical review of female prophets from the Bible, in particular, from the Old Testament. Grounded in positive psychology, four developmental areas framed the inquiry into the leadership development process, each representing an area of identity work. A close-ended survey and open-ended interview protocol were used.
