This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with eight pastors and some spouses. The review of literature examined scripture, Christian and secular literature regarding ministry and marriage. The interviews focused on how church planting impacts the planters, spouses and their marriages. The project director researched a sampling of existing pastor search documents and conducted interviews with church members currently or recently involved in the pastor search process for their church.  These interviews provided insight into the interpersonal dynamics at work in the congregations involved and the procedures used in smaller member congregations.  Additional study in curriculum theory helped in the development of a quality guide. This study highlights the most often faced biblical and cultural issues in Chinese churches. The author interviewed 13 of the largest Chinese churches in the San Francisco Bay area to discover their candidating process.  As a result, key principles and a ministry model were developed to clarify these issues.
