Research of published material reviewed statistical reports, dissertations, published works, and internet sources. These were scrutinized in conjunction with surveys and subsequent interviews with ministers in transition and denominational officials.  Prevention and intervention strategies were evaluated, resulting in recommendations to bring healing to and reintegration of pastors into career ministry.  Emphasis is placed on a mentor/friend relationship to guide both minister and family through the transition. For this project, moral failure was defined as sexual immorality and the pastor was defined as the senior pastor of a church.  The author developed the process by researching the available literature and information on this subject and by interviewing leaders at four churches that had experienced the loss of a pastor because of moral failure. A survey of Christian and Missionary Alliance (C\u0026MA) pastors and staff was completed in 1998 using the Western Pennsylvania District of the C\u0026MA as a sample. The survey sought to determine the rate of forced exits and factors involved in forced exits. These rates and factors were compared to two previous studies of forced exits (Crowell, 1990, and LaRue, 1996).
