Thirty-seven pastors were interviewed who claimed to have changed their congregations from an inward to an outward focus.  Twenty-six of these pastors came from thirteen different states and eleven from Finland, Sweden, and Estonia.  Further understanding and insights were gathered from interviews with one Baptist, one Lutheran and one Methodist congregation. Disciples episcope began in the office of 'evangelist' in the early decades of the movement, grew through the de facto assumption of episcope by the corresponding secretaries of the movement's 'state missionary societies,' and received constitutional status in the office of Regional Minister, created in the denomination's Restructure in 1969.
