I proposed that doulos be translated slave based on the Pauline assessment and modeling of this biblical doctrine.  Relevant data was gathered using a mixed-method approach to equip PR to parallel two motifs or models: slaves of Christ with slaves to sin who support the prosperity gospel heresy.  The slave language was challenging as PR consists of offspring of American slaves. Yet PR leaders agreed to participate in this project to dispel misunderstanding and encourage an examination of biblical teaching on this avoided topic. The study followed a qualitative research method, utilizing semi-structured interviews with seven pastors, analyzed in a constant comparative method. The research explored volunteerism, leadership, and leadership development. But some lack adequate knowledge in congregational study.  This project was designed to equip ministers to understand key concepts that will improve their abilities to administer their congregations well.  The author's concern has been how ministries of pastors can be enhanced to understand the cultural context of their local congregations.  The author believes that the seminars conducted would give them new insights. The six-session program (including group instruction and discussion, a six-part fable, and reflection questions) was based upon leadership behaviors described in First Timothy. Eight pastoral staff participated in the three-month program and were pretested and posttested using both quantitative and qualitative measurements. The results were statistically insignificant with regard to behavioral change. The intent of this dissertation was to better understand visionary leadership, while creating a better comprehension of ways to enhance a pastor's ability to implement this important characteristic of ministry.
