The project director researched the demographics of village pastors and created a profile describing the theological needs of Indian village pastors. The project director researched existing paradigms of theological education being utilized and determined best practices. The study utilizes autoethnography, literature reviews, and both qualitative and quantitative research to identify five core competencies that are necessary for young clergywomen of color to thrive: self-awareness, strategic thinking, leadership, balance, and cultivating relationships. Through a workshop, selected pastors will learn relevant skills in church revitalization discovered during the research phase of this project. An annotated bibliography will be produced to serve as the source material for the workshop. A questionnaire will be given to the pastors concerning revitalization skills prior to the start of the workshop. The workshop will assist the participants in increasing their understanding of the field of church revitalization and some of the needed skills in church revitalization. This project focuses on executive coaching for pastors at risk of becoming 'stuck,' losing energy of momentum in congregational ministry. This report explores executive coaching theory, considering how working with a coach can help a pastor out of a rut and thus regain energy for ministry. The researcher reviewed biblical model of the leader/follower relationship or Moses/Joshua, Elijah/Elisha, and Jesus/the disciples. A literature review of transformational leadership and follower-focused leadership models was completed. Servant leadership, situation leadership, and redemptive leadership were examined. Followership was included to understand the emerging leader's responsibility. Three developmental timelines were considered as well. The study resulted a framework for pastors to consider in developing emerging leaders. Emerging leader development involves four areas: spiritual, personal, leadership, and ministry skills. A 'Life Map' is a contemporary term for a spiritual quest to make sense of one's whole life. This researcher discovered the practice with mentors who guided him through a church crisis at midlife using a Life Map. He subsequently led over fifty seminarians in construction of a Life Map as part of their preparation for ministry, observing a pattern of transformation for these adults. This project surveyed the graduates of Bethel Seminary of the East and interviewed eleven, finding solid confirmation for that hypothesis using statistical analysis and grounded theory. As secondary support for the hypothesis, he explored the theme of spiritual formation and transformation in an Old and New Testament character study. This project also surveyed research literature on a noted spiritual formation model, findings from narrative psychology, and an outline of a history of spiritual autobiography. The project director began her project by researching material in the field of mentoring in order to develop a procedure for professional chaplains to follow when called upon to mentor chaplains through national board certification.
